Tami Louise Montgomery Shelton, 60 of Charlestown, IN passed away on Thursday September 17, 2020 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN.
She was born on July 4, 1960 to Carl E. and Pearl Montgomery in Jeffersonville, IN. Tami was a former 911 Dispatcher for the Charlestown Police Department, Clark County Sheriff’s Office and the Brevard County, FL 911 Communication Center and she retired from the Charlestown Water Department. Tami was a member of the V.F.W Post 1427 Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 335 Ladies Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Carl Montgomery and Forest “Oofie” Montgomery and a nephew Gary Plaskett.
She is survived by her sons, Jason Whalin and his wife Kara of Charlestown and Mathew Whalin of Charlestown; sisters Melinda Baker and her husband Steve of Lanesville, IN and Rebecca Montgomery of Charlestown; grandchildren, Ryan Whalin, Hayden Whalin, Hank Whalin and Molly Whalin; sister-in-law, Betty Montgomery of Charlestown, nieces, Danielle, Sarah, Shannon, Melissa and Tracy; nephews, Shawn, Josh, Forest, Jesse and Ryan.
Life Celebration Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday September 24, 2020 at Grayson Funeral Home with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday and after 9:00 am on Thursday.
