Sherry Lavu (Perkins) Raines

Sherry Lavu Raines, 75, of Charlestown, IN passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

Sherry was born on October 11, 1947, in Louisville, KY to Robert and Dorothy Yates Perkins.  She was a former employee at Cracker Barrell and a member of North Charlestown Church of God.  Sherry was preceded in death by her husband Gene Raines in 2009 and her brother Robert W. Perkins, III in 1980.

Sherry enjoyed watching her favorite TV shows Yellowstone, Call of the Midwife and Lonesome Dove. She was a big Conway Twitty fan and loved to cook for her family and was well known for her fried chicken, her meatloaf and homemade biscuits.

Sherry is survived by her children, Robert Raines (Tammy) of Nabb, IN, Gina “Sugie” O’Neil (Tony) of Charlestown; stepchildren, Gene Raines (Susie) of Findlay, Ohio, Jaime Striplin (Tom) of Mt. Savage, MD; brother, David Perkins of Sellersburg, IN; sister, Norma Perlette of Benton, KY; grandchildren, Savannah Raines, Summer Raines, Autumn Brown, Nikiah Campbell, Michael Robinette and Daniel Striplin, and several great grandchildren.

Life Celebration Services will be at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 31, 2023, at Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 pm on Friday.
