Michael Allen Smith, Sr.

Michael Allen Smith, Sr., 68 of Nabb, IN passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on July 31, 1954, in Jeffersonville, IN to Kenneth L. and Dicie Belle Rigsby Smith who preceded him in death.  Michael was a former construction worker and an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.  Mike was known as "Mike the Mowerman" and ran a small engine repair shop in Nabb along with his cousin, Andy Stoner until 2009.  Mike continued to repair small engines for his family and friends.  He served as a volunteer firefighter for the New Washington fire department and delivered mail for the Nabb post office.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Johnson Smith, his children, Michael A. Smith, Jr., (Cathy) of Ohio, Tammy Smith of Jeffersonville, Kimberly Sutherland (Timmy) of Elizabeth, IN; step-children, Anna Hartig (Benny) of Lexington, IN, Rebecca Porter of Otisco, IN and Paula Porter of Otisco; a brother, Bob Smith (Mary) of Kentucky, sisters, Nancy Boyle (Mike) of Kentucky, Shirley Jones of Nabb and Debbie Campton ( Mike) of Nabb; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Mike will be sincerely missed by his community, family, and all who knew him.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, beginning at 3:00 pm at Nabb Presbyterian Church, In Nabb, IN. with Mick Finch officiating.
