Mary Juanita (Abell) Pierce

Mary Juanita Pierce was born on June 20, 1944, to Paul G. and Elizabeth (Lizzie Bet Shofner) Abell and passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. She grew up in Butler County, Kentucky.

When her children began school Juanita decided to become a beautician by attending the House of James School of Cosmetology. She started her career in Otisco, IN, and the moved to Charlestown where she had a long and enjoyable career. After retiring from cosmetology, she began a new career working for Med Venture which she enjoyed equally as well as all the good friends she had the pleasure of meeting.

Juanita is survived by her husband of 60 years, David Pierce; children, Tawana Lynch and her husband John of French Lick, IN and David Scott Pierce and his wife Melissa of Charlestown, IN; grandchildren, Christopher Schrank, Todd Schrank, Maranda Boggess(Ryan), David Pierce(Katie), Kaci Lynch, and Josh Lynch; great-grandchildren, Liam Schrank, Leia Schrank, Cassidy Boggess, Jaxson Boggess, Ava Pierce, Ardleigh Andrews, and Aubreigh Andrews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Margarette Buckman; brothers, Paul Abell Jr. and Darriel Abell.

We want to express our love and gratitude to all the wonderful people working for St, Croix Hospice and Visiting Angels that took such wonderful care of Mom during her time of need.

Life Celebration Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at the Charlestown Independent Church with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will begin from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown and after 9:00 A.M. at the church.
