Alma Denney Obituary

Alma Jane Denney 73, of Charlestown, IN passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN.

Alma was born on March 11, 1948, in Jeffersonville to William R.  and Pearlee F. Smothers Pierce.  She retired from Freudenberg Medical in Jeffersonville and was a member of Graceland Baptist Church in New Albany, IN.  Alma enjoyed cooking and baking for her family.  She was known for her divinity and coconut crème pies.  Alma was a true caregiver always putting other people ahead of herself. 

Alma is survived by her husband, Jimmy Denney; sons, William Denney and his wife Deanna of Charlestown and Derek Lee Denney of Indianapolis, IN; brother, David Pierce and his wife Juanita of Charlestown; sisters, Lula Mae Farmer of Campbellsville, KY, Carolyn Miller of Clarksville, IN and Verna Jean McDaniel of Charlestown; grandchildren, Corey A. Denney, Christian R. Denney, Hunter L. Denney, Jamie R. Denney and Tiffany J. Denney; great grandchild, Hendrix Denney.  Alma helped raise Jimmy’s siblings, George, June, Butch and John after the death of their mother.

Life Celebration Services will be at 1:00 pm on Friday at Grayson Funeral Home with burial in Old Salem Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday.
