Stanley olyn Hunt Sr.

Stanley Olyn Hunt Sr, 78, of Charlestown, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Rex Robley VA Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Stanley was the eldest of four children born to Julian O. and Margaret F. Hunt on November 8, 1941 in Bluefield, West Virginia. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1959 and followed his Father into Ministry by attending and graduating from Grundy Bible College. After college, he entered the U.S. Army in 1964. In 1968, he married his beloved wife Sun Cha and settled in Charlestown, IN where they raised nine children. 

After his service in the military, he owned and operated several nursing homes, coal mines, renovated and built residential homes.  Stanley was a kind and giving man and never met a stranger.  With his generous heart, he helped many in our community.

He leaves as his legacy his children Kimberly F. Hunt-Jones (Larry) of Shelbyville, KY, Stanley O. Hunt II, of Charlestown, IN,  Delmas M. Hunt of Shelbyville, KY, Margaret A. Hunt of Charlestown, IN, Jasmine Lee (Jun Yup) of Phoenixville, PA, Sonja Christie (Steve) of Glen Ellyn, IL, Tina Kim of Yorktown, VA, and UnYong Serrano of Port St. Lucie, FL. His Grandchildren Taylor Stuart (Cameron) of Charlestown, IN, Ariana Jones of Jeffersonville, IN, Jordan Hunt of Jeffersonville, IN, Brandon Jones of Shelbyville, KY and Peyton Martin of Charlestown, IN; his Great Grandchildren Karsen and Colten Stuart and Raelynn McClure; his Sisters Sandra Hunt-Kirkland (Evansville, IN) and Marchetta Hunt-Beevers (Sellersburg, IN); his Sister-in-Laws Soon Yi Kim (Philadelphia, PA) and Soon Deok Pak (Changwon, South Korea); and 8 Nieces and Nephews, 17 Great Nieces and Nephews and 1 Great Great Nephew.   

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents Reverend Julian O. and Margaret F. Hunt, his brother Raleigh Van Hunt and his son David Julian Hunt.

At his request, Stanley was laid to rest in a private service on January 2, 2020.  There will be “A Celebration of Life” held at VFW Post #1427 located at 350 Harrison Street, Charlestown, IN 47111 on Sunday, January 12, 2020 from 1 – 5pm. In lieu of flowers, the Hunt family welcomes all friends to share any and all stories, photos, and memories of Stanley with his family at this time
