Mary Lou (Egan) Myers

Mary Lou Egan Myers, 95 formerly of Charlestown passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Wedgewood Healthcare in Clarksville, IN.

Mrs. Myers was born on September 24, 1922 in Charlestown the daughter of Walter and Norna Boyer Egan. Mary Lou was valedictorian of Charlestown High School class of 1940. She attended Purdue University and Indiana University receiving two degrees. Mrs. Myers started her teaching career as a high school teacher in Saluda, IN and continued as a home economics teacher and counselor at Charlestown High School, 4th grade teacher at Middle Road Elementary, counselor for Wilson Middle School and Parkview Middle School. She was a member of Charlestown United Methodist Church, Indiana State Retired Teachers Association and Chi Omega Sorority. Mary Lou enjoyed making crafts especially beaded bracelets, square dancing, reading and spending time with her Siamese cats.

Survivors include her son, Rick Myers (Laura) of Charlestown, IN; daughter, Mindy Johns (Jimmy) of Jeffersonville, IN; grandson, Chris Myers (Sergio) of Clarksville, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Ann Russ.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown with burial in Charlestown Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. and after 9:00 A.M. Friday until the time of services. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Charlestown United Methodist Church.
