Eugene Ray "Doodle" Hardy

Eugene Ray “Doodle” Hardy, 87, of Charlestown, IN passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN

He was born on July 12, 1930 to Hannibal Smith Hardy, Jr. and Viola Elizabeth (Fouts) Hardy in New Washington, IN. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, an entrepreneur, and Protestant.  He had a life-long passion for horse racing, business and investing in the stock market.  He had an unconditional love for his family and truly enjoyed life.  He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Jean S. Hardy; daughter, Janice M. Hardy; grandson, Shane Crawford.

Survivors include his daughter, Peggy L. Grote of Charlestown; brother, Hannibal Smith Hardy III of Charlestown, IN; grandchildren, Myles Grote (Lauren), Ryan Grote (Elizabeth), Chelsea Crawford, and Evan Crawford; great-granddaughter, Zoey Marie Dawson.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 11 am at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown, with burial in the Crown Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4pm to 8pm, and after 10 am on Tuesday.
