Donald L. Vogt, SR. 89 of Plainfield, IN and formerly of Charlestown, IN passed on Saturday, May 6, 2017 surrounded by family and friends in Plainfield, IN.
Mr. Vogt was born on September 1, 1927 in Louisville, KY the son of Arthur and Nadine Vogt. He retired after several years from the former Consolidated Freight Ways in Louisville and was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Teamster Union Local 89, and reserve officer for Clark Co. Sheriff’s Office. He held the position of Campground Host at Hardy Lake Campground for many years, and donated countless hours to the Dwight R. Chamberlain Raptor Rehabilitation Center. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Carol Arehart Vogt; second wife, Elizabeth Herring Vogt; siblings, Arthur E. Vogt, Jr., and Betty Faber Vogt.
Don is survived locally by his daughter, Heidi Nichols (Richard) of Sellersburg, IN; sons, Donald L. Vogt Jr. (Cathy) of Jeffersonville, Eric and Peter (Lynn) Vogt of New Albany, IN; 5 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild; step-children, Cindy Hutton, Lorrie Gasvoda, Dawn Curry, Robert Hopwood, and Kim Hopwood. 10 step-grandchildren and 4 step great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1pm at the Charlestown Cemetery.
