Jack J. Menendez, Jr, 82, of Charlestown, IN and Acworth, GA passed away on Friday, November 3, 2017 at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, IN.

Jack was born on June 27, 1935 in New York, NY the son of Jack Sr. and Margaret Ayala Menendez. Mr. Menendez retired from the United States Army at the rank of Major and served in Special Forces in both the 82nd and 173rd Airborne Divisions. As a Green Beret, he served his country in Cambodia, Thailand and Viet Nam where he earned the Purple Heart among other distinctions. His final active military duties were served at Fort McPherson in Atlanta Georgia, where he was base Racquetball Champion in the late 1970’s.

After a distinguished military career, and at the age of 46, Jack graduated from John Marshall Law School in Atlanta and practiced Law successfully until his retirement last year.

Jack was famous for his lavish and well-attended parties, and in May of this year he moved from his beloved “Casa de Menendez” on Lake Allatoona, Georgia to be with his son and grandchildren here in Charlestown. 

Survivors include his wife, Linda Menendez of Clearwater, FL, his son Dr. Tom Menendez of Charlestown; grandchildren Alissa Faye Curtis and Julia Raye Menendez; great-grandchildren Alannah, Svea, Iva, Joaquin and Ruby, as well as several cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at 7:00 P.M. at the Grayson Funeral Home in Charlestown. Visitation will be held on Tuesday beginning at 6:00 P.M. until the time of services.
